A few photos . . . .

Hiking in Shenandoah National Park.

A stretch of the Appalachian Trail that my husband and I maintain as volunteers from our hiking club. This is the path I saw in my mind’s eye as I wrote the part of Moonshiner’s Son when Tom walked down the mountain from the cabin where he lived.

Finding out about Civil War forts and cannon as I did research for Timothy Donovan’s Story.

A bicycle trip along the towpath of the C&O Canal in preparation for writing Captain Kate. My friend Barb and I rode the whole 184 miles on a series of Saturdays. We asked our husbands to join us on this section because this was the day we had to go through the dreaded PawPaw Tunnel. (That’s my husband making horns behind my head.)

Monique, who keeps me company when I write.
